Random Bits

Foot & Mouth Disease
Why because I can't seem to get the foot out of my mouth! I mean I just keep talking about it in case you haven't noticed. It's tough to get outta your head. Another symptom is you've read all the blog, posts, articles atbp. surfing the net & you might not even be done yet! I really gotta move on now cause it's already been over a week since the concert experience. Still, it hits me like "was that for real?". I've been so LSS-ed by their songs that I don't even need to listen to it because it'd be redundant, I mean it plays in my mind on loop!(esp. Awakening &  This is Your Life) Me & my friend Tina agreed, it's time for a switchdetox.hehe. But I guess everyone's still got the hangover rush & I think it'll be a while to recover. It's sure like a foot plague/outbreak all ova, just try googlng switchfoot+manila+balut & see the pages you'd find. I'll try make this my last post on the matter.

Looking back now, I did find some regrets. Like...
1. I wish I could've sold more tickets. I sold a whole bunch without even really trying. (Next time, I'll be smarter & better with the tickets)
2. I could've done a longer interview. I spent so much time with them, it seems I've asked them all my questions already by the time of my interview & so I probably ran out of em by that time. I did get the answers but it wasn't recorded prior to the press time. Still, It was short & sweet however, they say.
3. I didn't get to ask for Chad's ignature drumsticks(forgot I was a drummer.hehe)
4. Wasn't able to get a clear video greeting of them saying watsup to my youth group which I always try to get as my pasalubong to them.
5.  I didn't get my CDs or anything autographed.

...but then again, what beats hanging around with them?Shades

Hebrew & Greek Troubles
Learning biblical language in the Seminary is hard! Please pray that I pass it because I would hate to fail! I found out it was like math, only without the numbers. Vocabs are easy for me, it's just when all these formulas etc. come in & are applied, then I just freeze. Got like 3 more weeks to go for class.

New TV Job
UniversiTV is the channel where Donita hosts a show called U-Turn which I've guested on to share my testimony back then. I'll be hosting a show or two on this channel soon. Abangan! One is a music video show which airs daily & the other still to be determined. I'm also doing V.O.s(voice overs). How cool is God? It really amazes me! Just when I've given up on my VJ dreams. It was something I always wanted to give a try, even just for once, not even as a long time thing or to be popular at. Didn't matter what network either. Basta try lang & even if 1 episode lang even, that's it. I'm cool with that. The problem is all the TV hosting auditions & hunts say it's open to ages 18-25 & well uhm...I just happen to be just a lil tiny bit over that.(So there. For once I admitted I wasn't 18.hehe) But for this one, they just got me & accepted me for who I am.

Looking back in the years, I have no regrets of not trying to get into this. I've been real busy & it wasn't like I just sat around & did nothing & just waste my time. Cause I realized only then could I have been regretful. It was productive time all well spent so there are no regrets of not trying hard enough to do things or even if I never got to try some things I wanted. This was something that I prayed for that if would come, it'd just come along & fit & wouldn't mess me up & get me off track & you know the crazy thing about this also is it fits both me(as a person, faith & values) & my schedule. Perfect timing too, right when bills seem piling up. I mean GOSH how did this work out so well? Thank you Lord Jesus for it all! The glory forever yours!

Amoy Paa(The Switchfoot Experience)

The Pick Up
I cannot believe what had just happened the past two days. I still gotta crazy hangover from it all.hehe. Sunday night, we were off to the airport with our church bus. Usually we pick up missionaries but this time, it was uhm...rockstar missionaries! They arrived 12 midnight at the Ninoy Aquino Airport. So we met SWITCHFOOT & for me it was too unbelievable to get starstruck. The reality of it just wouldn't hit me but now finally I do get struck talking thinking it. Were these really the guys on the CDs, MTVs & posters? Was this really happening? Anyhow, we loaded up their gear & then everyone got on. They were real nice guys & humble rockstars they were. They seemed real excited to be here, especially Jerome(the Filipino) who hasn't been back since he was 3. Right away we taught em some new words & took as many pictures without annoying em. They already knew kamusta & mabuhay. I said that's old school so I taught em "astig!" which later they'd use alot. We brought them to the Diamond hotel where they stayed & after dropping them off, headed to Cuneta to drop off their guitar & stuff.

The next day, we went to pick em up again in the morning to show em around Manila as fast as we could before getting to the Astrodome for the presscon, soundcheck etc. Ako na daw ang bahala, so I had become the official tourguide of the group, something that I wasn't really expecting & but so glad it did. From the hotel, took them to Walled City, Intramurous. On the way, told them how traffic was a way of life, explained things about our culture & answered their questions about the Philippines.
I must've failed my Philippine History classes otherwise I'll use my being in the States for Grade 1-6 as an excuse for being so bad at it.  I probably know more about American History which is why I struggled to explain to the guys some of our history. This experience has challenged me personally to go back & relearn these things because I was caught off guard at the moment, I better be ready next time. We went to Fort Santiago. Spent time walking around there, reading the history, taking pictures etc. Now I know about Jose Rizal, it's just that it wasn't that clear to me where exactly he was shot at by a firing squad. So the real funny embarrasing thing happened with me when I explained that the footsteps on the floor in the fort were Rizal's. That it was his death march or final steps to his execution. So somehow I ended up telling them that if we follow these footsteps , it would lead us to where he was shot. But the problem was, the steps ended at the exit. They asked, did he get shot here? I said he must've escaped!Tongue I had no idea at the moment, but later on I got to explain that it happened at Luneta where the monument was at. Maybe I suck at the history teacher part but at least the tourguide part went ok.

We had lunch back at the hotel. Turns out they served balut there but only on Wednesdays so too bad. They really loved the mangoes here just like all the rest who came before. We had to be quick because we had to be back at Cuneta by 2. I felt kinda sorry for them because their touring time was really limited, they didn't even get to do any shopping except for the Jeepney Sovenir hat Jon bought at Fort Santiago. After lunch, took them to SM Mall of Asia. We didn't get to walk in  or around the mall, but we just went around it by bus, then got off the parking lot, there got on a Jeepney ride that would take us back to dome. The guys really had fun with that. Taught them how to pay(bayad po) & get off(para po). Even taught Joh how to surf(make sabit).

At the Dome
When we reached Cuneta, we went backstage & prepared for the presscon. Btw, watch out for their interview on MYX, Mo Twista's segment on Magic, & of course Perfect Rhythm & Against The Flow.  After the interviews, they did their soundcheck which was already really rockin & got me more excited for the night! Then, had the meet & greet with the street team who did a great job selling tickets & promoting the event. Then later, they went back to the hotel for dinner. I stayed put to help prepare with some things going on here.

The concert started around 8:20pm. An IJM person came on stage to say some words about this cause which was a reason for this concert. Then Salamin came on & totally rocked it! I just knew these guys were perfect to do the front act that's why when I was asked who would be a good front act, I highly recommended them. The crowd was already blown away by that. Then after some minutes, Switchfoot came on stage & gave us the best rockin concert we've ever seen! Too bad for those who missed it. These guys rule! The crowd wasn't as great as we expected it(in fullpack soldout size) but they were great in the sense that the band loved em. They told me the energy they felt coming to them on stage was incredible. I'd say the Philippines got the best crowd regardless the size.

I Dare You Balut!
The story behind that goes like this. We've been talking about balut alot eversince the other night. Turns out, Jerome had already brought it up to the guys & dared them. I told them about the balut club & said it'd be cool if they joined it. Jon said "I'll do it". At first, he meant at the hotel.  I suggested why not during the concert. They said nah but then I go "But ya know, if you guys did it, you would be the first foreign rock act to ever eat balut during their concert. Think about it". Started applying peer pressure then sang Dare you Balut...Dare you Balut.. so it was a dare to which suprisingly later, they took. I didn't really think they would, so I had to ask em twice. I asked backstage, "do you really want to do it?" They said ya. Then I had to ask again just before they went on, "you're really gonna do this?" & when it was confirmed, I got the balut bought & ready. So in the middle part, we had the balut club presentation. I came up & brought them the stuff. Taught em how to eat step by step. Everyone went wild over this part. Switchfoot eats balut! The first foreign rock band to do such a thing on stage. Chad's the man though, because he finished his completely but later after watching the video, I found out it was only Penoy which is less gross than Balut. John, Tim & Jerome only had like half & that was still cool, but Drew didn't have some because lucky for him, we only had four(originally only John & Jerome were gonna do it.) Still it went great. This Balut portion was definitely a great highlight for everybody. You can watch the complete video here. I think I'll make it my goal/mission now to try & get every foreign artist who comes here to eat Balut!hehe.

The concert over-all was simply the best. These guys really know how to put on a show. Everything from their music, to their showmanships. Who wouldn't love these guys? They played everything we wished they would play. Oh yeah, they even asked me about their final line up if it was cool, how cool was that?Shades After the concert, we had a hard time getting them outta there because everyone wanted pictures with them & autographs. Alot hung around hoping they could come in at the back or that they would go out because I was told that they did do that before.

Wrapping Up

I stuck around the hotel & didn't get any sleep that night because we would take em back to the airport early in the morning. We decided to stay put instead of going back to Taytay. The band was in their rooms, either passed out or watching TV. Around 3, I thought I'd go out for a bite cause I was a lil hungry. Saw Drew come out & so I asked him if he wanted to come with me & Jomar to 711. So he came along. We let him try Siopao & Taho which he really liked. Then we just hung out & talked for a bit. Then, got back at the hotel. I went in the organizer's room for more "Tales After the Concert stories". Dang I was sleepy. Soon we took Chris(the Road Mngr) to the airport first. Then, went back & waited a bit till it was time to bring the guys. Later on the bus, the boys did their final autographs & pictures. We all were like zombies.  I shot them singing Happy B-day to Tuesday & it was real funny because it was like a solemn version. At the airport, got their bags & gear on the trolees, said our final goodbyes.cry We're sure gonna miss these guys. That was that & thus the end of an awesome adventure. They said they wanna come back so let's pray & watch out for that. Let's keep supporting these guys in their music & in our prayers. God bless Switchfoot!

My friends are going to hate me for saying this, pero nagsawa talaga ako sa Switchfoot.haha.J/k. Sorry for the inggit. Excuse me for bragging rights, I really tried to say these things as humbly as I can. I felt like the reporter kid from the movie Almost Famous. I guess it would be gay for me to be any more happy so I'm trying to hold in all the excitement of this. I tried to keep calm & my composure because deep inside, I'm screaming like a little girl!

So in 1 day, 7 hours, I've been a tourguide, roadee, bodyguard, balut instructor atbp. for this rock band. Not bad. I could live like this. I'm gonna have a long hangover for this one. Astig! I've hung around em so much, when my friend asked "kamusta"? I said "eto, amoy paa na". I say ok lang siguro sa akin mangamoy paa basta foot ng switch.hehe.

Why Stay Single?

Found this in a post in Friendster. Since I had a good laugh out of it, I thought I'd share it here.

Message: What Is Marriage?
1. Marriage is not a word. It's a sentence... a life sentence.
2. Marriage is love. Love is blind. Therefore marriage is an institution for the blind.
3. Marriage is an institution in which a man loses his Bachelor, and the woman gets?her masters.
4. Marriage is a three-ring circus: engagement ring, wedding ring and suffering.
5. Married life is full of excitement: In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. In the
third year, they both speak, and the NEIGHBORS listen.
6. Son: How much does it cost to get married, Dad? Father: I don't know son,
I'm still paying.
7. Love is one long sweet dream, and marriage is the alarm clock.
8. They say that when a man holds a woman's hand before marriage, it is
love; after marriage it is self-defense.
9. When a newly married man looks happy, we know why. But when a 10-year
married man looks happy, we wonder why.
10. There was this lover who said that he would go through hell for her. They got married, and now he is going through HELL.
11. Confucius says: a woman who sinks into a man's arm soon, will soon have her arms in the man's sink.
12. When a man steals your wife, there is no better revenge than to let him keep her.
13. Eighty percent of married men cheat in America, the rest cheat in
Europe.
14. After marriage, husband and wife become two sides of a coin. They can't face each other, but they still stay together.
15. Marriage is when man and a woman become one. The trouble starts when
they try to decide which one.
16. "I married Miss right, I just didn't know her first name was Always."
17. It's not true that married men live longer than single men, It only seems longer.
18. Losing a wife can be hard. In my case, it was almost impossible.
19. A man was complaining to a friend: "I HAD IT ALL - MONEY, A
BEAUTIFUL HOUSE, THE LOVE OF A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN, THEN POW! IT WAS ALL GONE." "WHAT HAPPENED?" asked his friend. He says "MY WIFE FOUND OUT."
20. WIFE: Let's go out and have some fun tonight. HUSBAND: OK, but if you
get home before I do, leave the hallway lights on.
21. At a cocktail party, one woman said to another: "AREN'T YOU WEARING
YOUR RING ON THE WRONG FINGER?" The other replied, "YES, I AM. I MARRIED
THE WRONG MAN."
22. Man is incomplete until he gets married, then he is finished.
23. No matter how often a married man changes his job, he still endsup with the same boss.
24. A man inserted an ad in the paper - WIFE WANTED. The next day he
received two hundred forty eight? letters,?and they all said YOU CAN HAVE
MINE.
25. When a man opens the door of his car for his wife, you can be sure of one thing either the car is new or the wife is...

Dedicated to my friends Patrick & Weng.hehe. j/k.Tongue Congratz to you both & I wish ya nothing but the best. These 2 recieved the first ever "Congratulations you're getting married & you're not even pregnant yet Award" last youth service.hehe. A great example for the youth that True Love really does know how to wait. Asteeg! Sayang, wala pa kasi yung license ko to marry or I would been proud to officiate.

Note: I never said I believed any of these. But since I'm single, I'll enjoy play-bashing couplehood for now. I really do believe that marriage is a gift from God & I believe He is giving me a wife someday that will help prove all these things wrong.

30 Days Trial with Jesus or Your Life Back!

Here's a challenge for any reader of this blog. Rules are simple:
1.) It's open to anyone who's never really had a real encounter/experience with Christ.(ok, even backsliders are welcomed back) Btw, if you think you're already a good enough person or you're completely happy with your life, try it anyway cause you may be wrong. But if you think you're perfect, nevermind. Btw, by thinkin that makes you imperfect.

2.) For 30 days, really try give yourself  to what your getting into. Don't try pretending or fakin it. Really believe because if you don't, you can forget about the challenge.

3.) Be willing to talk faith: putting your pride, egos, personal biases & unbelief down. Seek God & do your best to do so.

4.) Within those 30 days, live the real Christ follower lifestyle starting with the ABCs:
a. Read or listen & try understanding the gospel/good news about Jesus
b. Once that's ok, seriously humbly pray to recieve Christ to become personal Lord & Savior(or what they call the sinners prayer). I'll break it down for you, it's the prayer of opening/surrendering your whole life to Jesus & commiting to Him in faith.
c. Get discipled by a good spiritual mentor, attend bible study, go to Church on Sundays & do your quiet time/devotions daily(or reading of Bible.)
d. Be Real. Engage in living it 24/7!

5.) By the end of a month, I don't guarantee everything to be perfect, but if your life isn't somehow better over-all(emotionally, physically, spiritually, maybe even financially etc.), go ahead back to your old life. The decision is yours.

God is not afraId/insecure for anyone to take this challenge & so am I, so bring it on! If you want to take up this challenge, game on. Let's see it. It doesn't hurt to try, it probably might if you don't.Let me know if you want in.

P.S.- Thanks to Kyle for inspiring me to do this post Wink

LURKER CHECK

What is a lurker you ask? Lurkers are people who read blogs or join chat rooms or newsgroups and don't participate in commenting. If you have not noticed the nice little "Comment" at the bottom of these posts, you should take a look now and drop me a line. So many of you share such encouraging and thoughtful words(or challenging) with me in response to each of my posts it's a shame no one else can read them. But here you can. I always welcome personal emails but I would like you to help build the online community I have growing on this site. It also helps inspire me to do more posts and continue what I share. Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you.(This idea courtesy of my friends at sendusout.com)

Satan's Plan to Destroy Lovers Relationships: REVEALED

Here's a must see for all those with BF & GFs & those planning to have one. This has been tried & tested & you see it happening too many times nowadays. So it's time I expose that & share what God put this in me way back then. It's something I just shared with my youth group just last Sunday night.

1.) It's a great thing for two people to be in love. God made us like this & us finding True Love is a part of His great plan.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

2.) However Satan hates this idea. The last thing he wants is for two people to be truly happy in love & that it go according to God's plan. He hates relationships that have the potential to be true love and so he will do everything he can to wreck it.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

3.) He will use whatever power he has to seperate you. He will try to get you to fight so you can eventually break up, or stir up alot of problems/circumstances that may help end the relationship. He wants the love to end & if he can't, he's got other tricks planned like maybe he can try replace love with lust.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

4.) If he can't get the two to seperate, he moves on to his next plan which is make the lover's collide and fall into temptation.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

5. When that happens, it could result in a unwanted pregnancy.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

6. Now although the couple may end up together still by finding a way out of the problems & soon getting married, theres a big chance that if the couple or one of them is not really ready or up to it(being too young or immature), this next slide will happen, either before & after marriage.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

*Satan loves broken familes which is also a part of his wicked plans. He also knows that the poor kid left without a father figure could grow up depressed & miserable, be a part of this cycle or be a potential to becoming the next Hitler or Bin Laden.

7. The good news is this doesn't have to happen if Christ is the center of the relationship. (And btw, it's impossible for Christ to become the center of ones relationship if one isn't into Christ. Satan knows this to, so he loves it when Christians see Non-Christians because it makes his job easier.)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

8. If Christ is the center, He will be a very big factor in making this relationship work. Sure, everything may not be perfect, but it's good to know He's there to help. He'll help keep it from falling apart...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

9. And He'll help the couple from crashing into each other or avoiding accidents.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

10. And then the lovers could live happliy ever after they allowed God's will to prevail rather than Satan's.

The End
