Re: "Every Commuter Must Read This"

This has been spreading all over FB/the net but I'm not posting this to spread the fear....

 ORIGINAL

Mag-jowang magkayakap, isang matandang babae, sila, tapos yung driver. So lalo silang naguluhan kung saan mas matatakot.

Ingat! -A student from AB Pol Sci. (UST)

 ENGLISH TRANSLATION

I can't believe there are people that are willing to kill just to get material thing they want to get or maybe it's just sheer hunger driving them to do such.

This is just a story told to me by a friend:

They were heading yesterday to CEU to meetup with one of their friends, and so they rode the jeepney at the Ortigas area. When they rode the jeep, there were just a few passengers. Two lover cuddling, an old lady, them, and the driver. They sat at the far back of the jeepney, while the two lovers were sitting near the front of the jeep. The girl was leaning to the guy and seemed to be sleeping, while the guy was hugging the girl close to him and old lady was sitting in the middle portion of the jeep. My friend then went on to pass their fare to the old lady of which she will they pass over to the driver and who also then passed over the change back to my friend. At that moment, they noticed that the driver was already giving them bad looks which made them suspicious. A few moments later, the old lady suddenly asked my friend and her friend to get off the jeepney with her. They were then even more confused and scared of what's happening. They didn't know which to be much more afraid of, the old lady, or the jeepney driver. They didn't think anymore and decided to get off the jeepney with the old lady. When they got off the jeepney, the old lady was happy they didn't bother to ask why at that moment, and told them why she asked them to. The old lady told them the girl on the jeep was already dead and the guy and the girl weren't lovers at all. The reason why the girl was leaning towards the guy who was hugging her was because she has already been stabbed by the guy with an ice pick. That's also why the guy didn't bother to relay the fare to the driver even if he was closer to the driver than the old lady. The old lady also told them that she already noticed the girl's neck was already starting to have a darker shade, which is also why the driver was staring at them in a scary way. It was his attempt of warning my friends of the danger they are in.

It's just scary to think how scary it was to be in that jeep at that moment. It was just so scary. At these times, you can be sure of whom to trust your life with and how long it will go. It's even more scary when it's nighttime. So just a warning to everyone who usually travels at night, take care. As much as possible, have a companion with you. Don't forget to pray. You won't know how big of an impact it can be.

Take care! - A student from AB Pol Sci. (UST)

Even though I have yet to find a legit source telling me if this is real or not, here's 3 reasons why I think it's fake & I choose not to believe it.

 1. This story was too 'creepily' told - Masyadong maganda pagkakwento for me. I would've believed it more if it began with something like, "my friend who is a horror story writer told me this true story". C'mon guys, The way it was told has urban legend written all over. It was just too well crafted with the right words and length of a good story to easily spread. Look at these lines:

  • it began with "hindi ako makapniwalang"(Nice opening statement/hook)
  • Kwinento sakin 'to nung kaibigan ko kanina"(Sino ka na original na nagkwento nito and sino kaibigan mo?Baka si Stephen King or M. Night Shyamalan toh :p) Who is -A student from AB Pol Sci. (UST)? At may English version pa.
  • "Papunta sila ng kaibigan niya sa CEU"(in other stories, it's another place or school. So I guess it depends what student is telling this story to make it more terrifying to their schoolmates?)
  • "isang matandang babae" -why not a lolo(old man?). Because old ladies are more creepy for some reason or are more convincing telling ghost stories :p
How did she also know na hindi magjowa dalawa(paano kung nag LQ pala :p) and ice pick ang ginamit na weapon?)
Sobrang nakakatakot"(nice concluding statement just like the opening)

2. I watch the news and read the paper(STAR) every day and I'm pretty sure I would have heard it from there somewhere which I'd find way more believable than a copy pasted story. I also tried googling and I still got no reliable source. Please tell me if you ever find one and save me for further embarrassment if ever this was really true.hehe

3. I don't like it when my girlfriend & friends get's scared because of fake made up stories like so I just had to react to this.(Don't be scared anymore alright Ricci.hehe)

The positive of stories like this(+)

+eminder of pagiging maingat and prayerful at all times

The Negative(-)

-being horrified & getting goosebumps from a made up story

-never leaving your house or riding the jeepney(baka magka commuter strike)

Someone, correct me if I'm wrong about this and I'd also take down this note. I'm pretty sure there are similar stories or past ones and this was probably the exag version. If it's a true story, this copy pasted story would still not be the source for it.

Lesson for everyone. DON'T BE SO GULLIBLE & GET SCARED THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF YOU BECAUSE OF STUFF LIKE THIS. Don't believe things too fast!

I prefer to believe in & spread stories like this(even if some were meant for just illustration)

A young woman walking home from work in Brooklyn had to go past a young man loitering against a building. She was fearful; there had been muggings in the area recently, and she prayed for protection. She had to go right by him, and although she could feel him watching her, he didn't move. A short time after she reached home, she heard sirens and saw police lights. The next day her neighbor told her someone had been raped, in the same place and just after she had passed by the young man. She wondered if the man she'd passed was the rapist, because if it were, she could identify him. She called the police and discovered they had a suspect in custody. She identified him in a lineup and asked the policeman, "Why didn't he attack me? I was just as vulnerable as the next woman who came along." The policeman was curious too, so he described the woman and asked the suspect about her. He said, "I remember her. But why would I have bothered her? She was walking down the street with two big guys, one on either side of her."

Plus even more comfort from God's Word w/c is something not just commuters, but everyone must read...

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence.4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. 9 If you say, "The LORD is my refuge,"   and you make the Most High your dwelling, 10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra,  you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 "Because he[b] loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation." Psalm 91

I hope & pray this post has helped give you comfort and joy. God bless to you all ;)

In Christ,

Pastor/DJ Jordan Escusa

Top 10 Reasons Why I Always Bring Someone With Me on Speaking and Hosting Trips

As a youth minister and radio host, I'm blessed to get invites and go out and do a lot of these engagements. Almost every week I find myself somewhere doing both work and the Lord's work. Very rarely(or almost never) do I go at it alone because I've learned there are very good reasons why I don't have to.

1. Security Reasons - just in case lang naman ;)

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.Ecclesiastes 4:12

2. I Don't Want to Be the Next Aaron Ralston(127 Hours) - I don't want to get stuck somewhere or not have at least someone report what happened to me if ever.

If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Ecclesiastes 4:10

3. To Avoid Any Chismis(gossip) - If I'm all alone and someone see's me, what if they start thinking negatively or something like "I wonder or who knows what Pastor J is up to?" or if it's just my girfriend I'm with, baka sabihin nagtanan(elope)!hehe :p

4. Accountability - these guys watch over me. There may be times I'm weak, exposed to temptations and them being there helps. Because not all the time we pastors are strong. I wanna be sure there's no room for Satan to try and mess with me when I'm out there by myself.

5. For The Road- I'm bad at directions so I could use a navigator. Also in case of any car trouble like a flat tire or mechanical failure. If they can drive for me so I don't get too tired, great! But if not, helping me stay awake is just as good.

6. I Could Use The Help/Assistance- in keeping time, documenting/taking pictures, being the clicker for my power-point, or timing me so I don't go overtime which I have a bad habit of doing. Sometimes I need water, coffee or something and can't leave the area so a runner would help. Maybe if ever I can't speak all of a sudden, they could even sub for me because they seen me do it so many times!

7. They Are My Prayer Warrior- they pray for me before I go up and while I'm up there preaching so that I may be empowered and be effective to win souls.

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. Ephesians 6:19-20

8. Bonding Time - it's our chance to talk and fellowship and do some catching up. I really enjoy their company and it strengthens our brotherhood.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.1 Thessalonians 5:11

9. It's a Learning Experience- they could learn from what I'm doing as I mentor them, or learn from what's going on there that could be helpful or useful to them. It's their chance to go out, meet new people even. They could even learn how to drive along the way! ;)

10. I Want to share the Blessings- most of these events have a entrance fee or ticket and I could always get someone in for free, plus there's food and other free stuff and sometimes the beach, pool, hotel etc. are all included with the package! For those who've already come, they know it's mostly vacation time when you join me and they end up benefiting more from these trips.

"Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same."Luke 3:11

So now you see the importance on why I always bring somebody along. It's not just poor me might be lonely. Most of these guys I bring are from my discipleship group or are church mates. I consider these guys my VIP, armor bearers and comrades. I always joke and say "this is my bodyguard" but really they are my body+spirit+soul-guards. What I do is not easy and that's why I really praise God for putting people like these at my side. I'm thankful for these people's ministry as I do the ministry God called me to. Which is also why I wrote this, to express my appreciation. For those who been with me and are going with me on these trips – BIG THANKS! Most of the time you'd hear "thanks for being there for me" being said to a pastor. But this time, I would like to be the one to say "thanks for be there for me". See ya on our next trips  :D

P.S.- if you see any of these guys with me at your church or event, please be nice to them and make sure they don't get hungry before I do :p

My Top 10 in 2010

 Yeheys…

1. A New President- even if I didn't vote for him, I'm real glad he won. So far, I'm liking the direction our country is going and praying and looking forward we make it out of the "Most Corrupt in Asia" list and into the "Most Blessed in Asia" one! God bless P-noy and the pinoys!

2. Camp ATF- the district camp I directed. It turned out pretty. Good number of delegates, cool program, also got Donita Rose to come over and share her testimony to the campers in person. I'm also very thankful we got a huge discount for the place from the owner herself, otherwise we would've had a huge debt! Up to now, my debt is huge in gratitude to Vista Venice Resort in Morong Bataan(V.O.: So go check the place out, this post is brought to you by them.:p).

3. My Own Car- Finally! It's also my first. So after years of barrowing vehicles, hitching, arguing with Taxi drivers, boxing out and waiting to hail a ride, worrying about getting robbed, getting late etc, introducing Whitey. It may not be my dream car, but hey my little white car get's me around alright. Thanks to my parents for the sweet deal.

4. Cuzin Sam's Graduation from Seminary & Singlehood- I share in my best bud's happiness & success this year. So proud of him getting his masters degree, proving that it's possible for guys who rock, to attain it. I also became a best man for the first time in his wedding. Congratz also to my other friends who got married like our guitarist Ricky, radio sister Owie Burns, Churchmates Michael and Neri, and old friend Julius Erandio.

5. Awesome Events- Got to watch Paramore though it was Para-ngless cause bitin, Attend the Passion Conference at Araneta, Gary V's and Martin's As 1 concert there as well, Worship with Citipointe Live at Phil Sports. How about our youth group GenCon Rockin Sm Taytay with Fire Fall Down and Salamin. There's Krystal Box at Music Museum. There was also APNTs' Foundation concert, Salamin's rockin album launch, and Our Church's 32nd Anniv with the theme: "Soar". Let me also include my Lakers winning the championship over the Celts, that was a pretty awesome event for me to see last year :p

 6. Road & Food Trips- Didn't have any flights like last year but been trippin to places like Baguio, Laguna, Cavite, Pangasinan, Bulacan, Tanay, Zambales and more. As for food, got to try out some new good stuff. There's dinner at 7 Corners buffet, +50% off the 2nd time I went for lunch. Finally an authentic Cheesesteak Sandwich at Alberto's in Rockwell, Ms. Polly's, there was also Johnny Rockets and their unlimited fries, and good burger's Silly Burger(spicy yum!) which was my burger of the year!

7 Our First Anniv – It's been a year filled with problems but now you're here
almost as if to solve them and I can't live in a world without you now all my life I've been searching for you how did I survive in this world before you cause I don't wanna live another day without you now(Me singing Relient K's song). After a few surprises, went swimming, watched a movie, had a great dinner that day. We celebrated like it was the best thing, because it really was and still is. Cheesy na kung cheesy, I Love You Ricci! :D

8.  Speaking Engagements- Of course there were the summer camps, churches and schools, my fist time speaking at an all girl school at Wood Rose in Alabang and Assumption Antipolo, the Perfect Rhythm concert in Carmen, there was the YMCA conference in Baguio, Blessed Generation Anniv concert in Bicutan, Bangon Kabataan in Las Pinas, Oktoberpraise Q.C., PCEC's Youth Summit, Peacemaker Church's concert in SM Mega Mall cinema. These were all memorable. So glad for the opportunity to serve and preach God's Word. I may have missed some here, but thanks so much for all these to all who invited me. Sa uulitin ;)

9. Hostings- debuts, weddings, reunions, mall shows atbp. Events like Angelu De Leon's Induction, CCF Eastwood's Anniv concert, The Mayor's Inauguration Ceremony, Asiafest Youth Talent, Level Up sa GMA. There was also the 12 Hour Famine Event where I hosted and fasted at the same time for 12 hours, that was a first and a new personal record for me. There I also became a child sponsor, adopting a 2 year old named Clark who I am send monthly support to now. Although I didn't get as much hosting gigs as I did last year, I think I still got more TF in this one. So less actually became more! Thanks for those who hired and recommended my service. As for others, for your events: "bili bili(or hire hire) na kayo diyan, emcee/DJ…emcee/DJ…diyan" :p

*Not to mention(but I will anyway :p) getting stalked by a crazy woman after hosting a pet show/movie promotion at SM north. A woman who appeared delusional, just started talking and following me from SM North, through the over pass and into Trinoma Mall. There, I tried my best walking faster, trying to lose her in the crowd, or stores and exhibits, even going in the men's CR. There where I tried to escape. It even got to the point where I had to tell the guard to stop her from following me. I managed to escape, thanks to Konica store where I had as I saw her pass by one last time. This could have been in my next list but it's been such a fun story though not so fun experience.hehe.

10. Meeting A lot of Cool New People(including you!) It was a real dream to meet people I wanted to meet like Wuv The Drummer of my favorite band P.O.D., CNN Hero of the Year Efren Penaflorida, Lea Salonga, Beauty Queens Miriam Quimbao & Ruffa Guiterez, Chris Tiu and Smart Gilas Philippine Team, Atom Henares, Citipointe Live, The Honorable Marites Fernandez and this list includes _________(your name here) if I just met you this year! Or even if you mentioned don't know me anymore or forgot, still it was nice to meet you ;)

 BOOs…

 1. RIP NU107(1987-2010) – It was the year rock(and rock bands) became homeless after Nu Rock NU107 shut down. Got to attend the very emotional last Rock awards and was there for the final night of it's last minutes of broadcast. Unfortunately there's not enough cool rockin people yet in the country to sustain this station which has now completely changed to a masa format(Win Radio). Still can't believe it went away like that, cause me and everyone never thought it would. Although I wasn't really a fulltime staff, NU still became my family and my hours of broadcasting, my set Sunday afternoons. I was pretty much devastated because I've been doing the ATF show here for almost 10 years. I guess it's better to go down with the ship than get thrown off it. Still, the good that came from this is I get full ownership of ATF and I got the freedom to what to do with it next(abangan!). May be the end of the station where it once was, but I assure you ATF will never die!

2. Deaths of Friends' Loved Ones- in the first two months of the year, two of our church youth close to me lost their moms. It seemed like every month we had a death of a family member of some sort. Even if I didn't have one in mine, I grieved and mourned with those who did.

3. The Bus Hostage and other tragedies- this sucked big time for us all. My only hope and prayer is that lessons were learned, Justice was or will be served, and that it would never happen again.

4. Break Ups of People- not just in showbiz, but actual people I know. Boo to broken heartscry

5. Losing our Basketball Championship- I'm such a competitor(a healthy type), a good sport and a sore loser at the same time. It looked like me and our boys were doing ok that day in our district(NYI) Youth Sportfest until we reached the semi finals where we lost. What made it hard was we lost in double overtime which means we almost won and could have reached the finals at least. Team GenCon, let's just go for it again next year! ;)

6. Broke Piggy Bank- I don't know why it's still not functioning and saving as it should be.hehe. Plus, Whitey and it's gas has been a major pocket drainer. But hey, it was a good investment. I know I can't be blaming it on him, Piggy or the bills all the time. This year, it'll be up to me if Piggy is gonna be more functional and successful in operation.

7. Personal Struggles- my battles w/ emotional problems, stress, temptation & sin etc. Too much to elaborate so I'll just keep this between me and God. These are present every year, but I will never let these bring or hold me down!

8. Low Attendance- I had big and successful events but there were also the ones that didn't do so well due mostly to low attendance. Like Light It Up had it's good nights but there were some that got me wishin I could've shoveled more people in. Our youth service also was under construction as our attendance wasn't as good as it was the last 2 years. Watch as this year will be different!

9. Church Problems- aside from regular stuff like financial matters, for the first time in our history, we had two DAs(Disciplinary Action) for two of our members who were both involved workers. We love them and our church, which is why this hurt so much to see this happening. It caused confusion, some division, bitterness and pain. It really sucked for us. But this year's failures may contribute to our future success. Things are looking ok so far and I could feel God's healing take place. We will rise, Soar through this together TFCN!

10. Weight Gained- sarap talaga kumain eh!(Eating is so good). If only eating good or good food equaled to good body/health. So I think I gained like 5 to 8 pounds for last year. So everyone who hasn't seen me for a while says the exact same intro/small talk: "Ang taba mo?". This year, be prepared to say something else the next time you see me.hehe

So many things to look back at. It was also a year of many firsts, but for both good and bad. I can say that 2010 was one of the worst years of my life. It was filled with laughs as much as cries. I guess when you got a tie like that(of good and bad times), it seems and really feels the worst got the best of you in the year. Before writing this blog, I felt real bad about last year and just wanted to forget about it and move on. But it turns out, I had a harder time writing out my top 10 Boos than the Yeheys. So it really wasn't as bad as I thought it was. Lesson learned, God is still Good overall the bad!

This year 2011, I aim…

…to have a thinner belly, and thicker wallet

…to be more stronger and wiser

…to learn more skill(music and arts), get back to studies in the seminary

…to be more disciplined and self controlled

…to be more responsible and a better steward of time and money

…to disciple and evangelize more intensively and intentionally

...to cause more parties in Heaven in 2011(Luke 15:7)

…to bless the world with more sermons, radio episodes and blog posts than I did last year

…to make Jesus more happy with my life as I continue to follow Him.

I am challenged and excited at the same time for this new year. 2011, here I come! So help me God :D

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE & GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

READER ADVISORY: Welcome to my world! Find out what goes on in the mind of a freak. Now, let me just make some things clear; I aint here to sell anything, not tryin to get a blog award or be famous cause of this. Not gonna try to impress with fancy bling bling writing, I'm no real writer(or layout designer, as you can see). Might even break some(or alot of) bloggin rules, what do I know? It's real simple, if you knew me, you'd know this is also how I talk or make kwento & maybe only then it'd be interesting. So this is basically me just being real. My style on purpose, thoughts & stories in writing. Di ko kina-career toh. I've got a real life to live & these are just pieces of it willing to be shared. Hope you have fun, relate or learn somethin good from it though. I'll do my best to update, get better doing it & maintain it properly para astig!

This blog is dedicated to my Lord Jesus, all those who care/support me & passer-bys & lurkers who could get blessed by it. Thanks for visiting. God bless you!!!
